Lion

The Lion is the king of all wildlife. The lion is unique amongst the big cats, it is the only one that is really social. Lions live in small packs of 2-10 grown up females with cubs, and a few males. All the females are in family with one another and usually stay with the pack the rest of their lives.

There is no permanent hierarchy in a lion pack, but they do have some kind of ranks based on strength and experience, which means that the oldest females usually have the highest rank.

The lion pack attempts to maintain a territory that is large enough to survive from prey within the territory, on average a 100 km2. Lions hunt in packs which make them capable to bring down large prey such as zebras, wildebeest, and even buffalos. Lions only hunt when they are hungry, and if they are lucky they are able to bring down a large prey, they each eat 20-40 kg of meat.

The lion male does not participate in the hunt, they are too big and eye-catching.
